The Path of Noble Silence

Merci!

The path of calm, peace and serenity is only done in silence. If it appears threatening to us, it is because of our ignorance. We cultivate a sickly attachment to the expression of our inner voices, which is why we end up developing an aversion to the vacuum of voices. But letting us be led by these movements plunges us into misery and slavery. Unfortunately, few thinkers have talked about slavery of thoughts; it's why not all thinkers are wise men.

The sage pursuits the path of calm, peace and serenity, which is why he must cultivate the silence. The isolation have the benefit to cut oneself from other's thoughts, which are more cause of concern than comfort. Far from the thoughts of others, we are overwhelmed by those that haunt us. At the beginning, we are harassed by our imagination about future and memories from the past, nothing that encourages us to take care of the present. However, all this passes and ends up in serenity, thankfully.

The calm after the storm reveals a most valuable friend. It's a simple voice, detached, rational, critical and encouraging. It helps us for some time, but the path to happiness can only be done alone at the end. The friend is there when needed, but we must know how to live even without this friend. Detached, we finally discover the true silence, and in this silence, "self." We become a simple membrane in contact with the presence, full of presences. We finally discover the "world" rather than it's representations. We leave ultimately the path of ignorance and join that of truth.

When cultivating this path, one wonders why to write.

Pax.
